Однако, по его словам, не исключен перенос запуска Starliner на май...

Видео от Scott Manley с комментарием о возможных конфигурациях запуска Орион вокруг луны не  на СЛС а на других РН .
Это реакция на заявление НАСА о рассмотрении таких вариантов.
Указывается что в таком случае потребуется многопуск в отличие от монопуска на СЛС .(что и так очевидно)

On March 13th Jim Bridenstine told a Senate Commerce Committee that NASA was investigating switching the Orion capsule's first lunar mission from the SLS to a commercial launch vehicle. In terms of payload the SLS is more capable than any commercial option at this time, so any plan to launch this mission on a commercial rocket would require two launches and a docking.

МОСКВА, 22 мар - РИА Новости. Запуск первого с 2011 года американского космического корабля с экипажем на Международную космическую станцию (МКС) планируется на конец июля, сообщил РИА Новости в пятницу источник в российской ракетно-космической отрасли.
В 2011 году была выведена из эксплуатации американская многоразовая пилотируемая транспортная система Space Shuttle. После этого экипажи на МКС доставляют только российские корабли "Союз". В США разработаны новые пилотируемые корабли: Dragon-2 (Crew Dragon) - компанией SpaceX и Starliner - компанией Boeing. В марте состоялся испытательный полет на МКС корабля Dragon-2 в беспилотном режиме.

"Американская сторона проинформировала российскую, что запуск к МКС корабля Dragon-2 в пилотируемом режиме планируется на 25 июля. Стыковка со станцией намечена через сутки. Расстыковка от МКС и возвращение на Землю предполагается 5 августа", - сказал собеседник агентства.

Ранее НАСА сообщило, что в экипаж корабля включены астронавты Роберт Бенкен и Дуглас Херли.

После испытательного пилотируемого полета корабль Dragon-2 будет сертифицирован НАСА для штатных полетов на МКС. В экипаж первого штатного полета корабля Dragon-2 на МКС вошли Майкл Хопкинс и Виктор Глоувер.

По словам Пенса, который руководит Национальным космическим советом и курирует космическую политику США, Трамп "велел НАСА и ее руководителю Джиму Брайденстайну добиться этого любыми необходимыми средствами". Балаболы политические - финансирование не слишком увеличили. Так и так к концу второго срока - ну и зачем спрашивается - удачно или катастрофично - третий раз Президентом так и так не стать, да и риска для поста при катастрофе мало.

А журналисты не понимают разницы между полетят к Луне и высадятся на Луну

Моё мнение:
Трамп хочет войти в историю.
И он пытается это сделать - надеюсь получится в том числе и отправкой людей на Луну.

Тем что Президент США через 2-3 года может быть другой; которому и его администрации в том числе в НАСА может не быть желания такой спешки к 2024 году.

Так что в заголовке должно быть не США, а Трамп.

Тем что если этот президент избирается в 2020 году на второй срок то в 2024-2025 году полетят на Луну или не полетят, или будет катастрофа с человеческими жертвами из-за спешки  или все будет в первом полете хорошо - для его политической карьеры все равно, Президентом можно быть не более 2 сроков.

Мое мнение - он шоумен, и прочее. Про его мнение человеческого полета на Марс в его первый срок президенства, в крайнем случае во второй уже писали

Так он же не инженер-ракетчик - что ему докладывали на то и упирался.

Если Маск обещал облететь Луну в 2018 году, и посетить Марс в 2024 , то почему бы НАСА не может напрячься и сделать это в 2020?

Теперь ему доложили что Маск весь этот бред болтал для хомячков с короткой памятью, и  теперь Трамп ставит реальные цели.

Если полвека назад смогли полететь за 8 лет(имея нулевую техническую и теоретическую базу), то почему бы сейчас не сделать это за 5 лет, когда многое готово?

Полностью согласен!

Не понимаю почему это сообщение вызвало такой напряг на нашем форуме. В самом деле:
РН - одна уже есть, вторая на подходе;
ПК - один уже, практически, есть, два на подходе;
нет только взлетно-посадочного комплекса, а его за пять лет сделать вполне реально.

Единственное, что сейчас нужно американцам для высадки на Луну, это принять политическое решение и немного увеличить бюджет.

Меня тут другой вопрос занимает - как высадка на Луну будет совмещаться с проектом Gateway?
Если это будет прямая высадка, то проект Gateway могут вообще отменить, либо затормозить. Если высадка будет с Gateway, то ее создание придется ускорить.

Хорошо бы. Но это будет значить, что глава НАСА и его команда не справились со своими обязанностями.

Делать массо-габарит РБ и пробовать его пускать Фальконом-хеви. За пол-года можно сделать.
Пошло? Орион на дельте-4 на НОО, РБ на фальконе-хеви. Стыковка - полет в облет. За год можно сделать.
Пошло? Ионник на НОО, Модуль с 4 стыковочными узлами на НОО. Сборка. ФХ-РБ. Сборка и гоу на ОЛО.
Пошло? ЛК-1 на НОО, РБ на ФХ - гоу на ОЛО и стыковка с мини-гатевей.
Пошло? ЛК-2 на НОО, РБ на ФХ - гоу на ОЛО и стыковка с мини-гатевей.
Пошло? Орион с  астронавтами на дельте-4 на НОО, РБ на фальконе-хеви. Стыковка. Гоу на к мини-гатевей.
На ЛК-1 высадка. Второй - спасательный. Нормально? В следущей высадке ЛК-2 будет посадочный.

Опубликованы топ-3 проекта NASA для жизни на Марсе: видео

В NASA назвали победителей конкурса 3D-Printed Habitat Challenge, цель которого - разработать концепт жилого модуля для инопланетной базы на Марсе.

Конкурс проходил с 2015 года и в нем победили три американские команды, которые получат по 100 тысяч долларов.

Первый проект представила команда SEArch+/Apis Cor. Их инопланетная база представлена в виде многоцелевых вертикальных сооружений, которые используют пассивную систему освещения. База уникальна тем, что ее можно бесконечно укреплять, монтируя поверх простые 3D-печатные элементы.

Второй проект, представленный командой Team Zopherus, понравился экспертам тем, что при его строительстве использовалось максимальное количество марсианского сырья. С Земли нужно будет привезти только каркасы или сырье для 3D-печати, остальное колонисты могут сделать на месте.

Третье место у команды Mars Incubator, которая представила "универсальные шестиугольники", из которых собирается любое здание. Для начала нужно лишь напечатать нужную сердцевину и вставить ее в типовой каркас, чтобы получить дверь, окно, стойку с приборами и т.д. После все это можно собрать в объемную конструкцию.

В США создают надувного робота для отправки в космос:

В Университете имени Бригама Янга (BYU) при содействии NASA завершают разработку надувного робота с подвижными концовками King Louie, который предназначен для полетов в космос.

Об этом сообщается в видео разработчиков робота в YouTube.

Согласно видео, металлического каркаса у робота нет – вместо него используются надувные мешки, давление в которых контролируется через компрессор. Именно за счет изменения давления робот может передвигаться и манипулировать "руками".

Основное преимущество King Louie – его дешевизна и легкость ремонта. Спустив воздух из робота, его можно помещать в небольшой ящик, соответственно, много места он не займет. Техники называют самым главным преимуществом робота перед металлическими конкурентами его безопасность для человека.

Однако при этом на данном этапе разработки многие эксперты отмечают сложность в управлении King Louie – его двигающиеся части скручиваются и изгибаются таким образом, что конструкцию сложно смоделировать, и после каждого нового движения его поведение несколько отличаются.

В NASA уже рассматривают вариант использования подобных роботов на космических станциях.

"Настало время вернуться на Луну, на этот раз, чтобы остаться", - заявил Безос на закрытом мероприятии для журналистов и работников космической сферы. Он продемонстрировал на сцене макет в натуральную величину аппарата для высадки на естественный спутник Земли. Посадочный модуль получил название Blue Moon.
Разработка аппарата, как подчеркнул Безос, "велась на протяжении трех лет". По его словам, Blue Moon сможет совершать мягкую посадку на поверхность Луны, имея полезную нагрузку от 3,6 до 6,5 т, при этом на его крыше можно будет разместить луноход. Глава Amazon также заявил о том, что специально для посадочного модуля разработан двигатель, получивший название BE-7. Первый пробный запуск силовой установки будет проведен летом.

Очень рад что планы по высадке на Луну приняли конкретные очертания.

Но использовать жидкий водород (BE-7) на посадочном лунном аппарате  мне кажется очень неудачным решением.

Ранее администрация США приняла решение начать подготовку к полетам автоматических аппаратов и пилотируемых кораблей к Луне и использовать эту программу в качестве важного шага для организации путешествий в дальний космос, в первую очередь на Марс. Американские специалисты рассчитывают осуществить отправку астронавтов на Марс примерно в середине 2030-х годов.

МОСКВА, 17 июл - РИА Новости. Пуски американских ракет-носителей Atlas-5 и Delta-4 с военными космическими аппаратами, планировавшиеся в июле, перенесены на август из-за технических проблем, сообщила компания United Launch Alliance (ULA).
В среду компания ULA, которая осуществляет пуски ракет Atlas-5 и Delta-4, сообщила о переносе с 25 июля на не ранее 22 августа старта ракеты Delta-4 со вторым навигационным спутником GPS-3 в интересах ВВС США с космодрома на мысе Канаверал.
В качестве причины отсрочки указана проблема, возникшая при наземном тестировании неназванного узла на предприятии одного из поставщиков. В связи с этим требуется дополнительное время для анализа ситуации, замены узла на ракете и его повторного тестирования.
Неделю назад компания ULA сообщила о переносе с 17 июля на не ранее 8 августа пуска ракеты Atlas-5 со спутником связи AEHF-5 также в интересах ВВС США и также с мыса Канаверал. При этом причина отсрочки была озвучена такой же, как и для Delta-4.
Ранее пуск ракеты Atlas-5 со спутником AEHF-5 уже откладывался из-за неисправной батареи на ракете.
